I just donated $20 to This American Life. A plea for cash came across my Facebook groups update list asking members to support the show’s free podcast. Apparently it costs $150,000 just to accommodate the bandwidth. So I plunked down my credit card and forked over the money. As the Joy Trip Project struggles to meet its own fundraising goals I’d frankly feel like a hypocrite if I didn’t pony up to support those with similar objectives. I'll be the first to admit it. This is one I kind of phoned this one in. I almost didn't make out in time to get this series of photographs you'll find at : http://www.jamesedwardmills.com/The_Joy_Trip_Project/Photos/Pages/Capitol_View_Triathlon.html I completely missed the swim start and just barely made it in time to see the bike and run finishes.   IMG_6695 Late last night we heard a crash. Must have been about 2 in the morning. My wife and I thought it was kids playing with fireworks in the cemetery behind our house. That's not an unusual sound to hear this close to July 4th. Beats the hell out of the sound of gunfire. After the dogs stopped barking we rolled over and went back to sleep. But when we woke up this morning we discovered one of the huge maple trees in our back yard had lost a limb. It had to be 40 inches in diameter at its base and its mass of branches and leaves completely covered the Capital City bike path.
