Throughout the month of February action movie fans will have the opportunity to watch many of the great shorts and features of the past year. The Mountain & Adventure Film Festival offers direct online streaming of many compelling dramas and documentaries that made the rounds at popular events across the globe including 5Point, MountainFilm, Kendal, Adventure Film and Banff. Bringing a bit of the energy and excitement of the alpine sports and environmental protection communities to the small screen, this online festival aims to expand the adventure movie audience beyond the confines of exclusive mountain towns of the west and offer up this inspiring genre of filmmaking to crowds of viewers on-demand with the ease of digital delivery
“The Internet is the great equalizer making it possible for everyone to see the best our community has to offer,” said Benjamin Oberman CEO and founder of Film Festival Flix. “This festival crates a platform where audiences can interact directly with those people and organizations who advocate for the places and activities we love.”
Without a doubt, the way we watch movies has changed forever. Thanks to digital download and online streaming the old model of exclusive theater-based presentation and distribution is a thing of the past. And even though there are more film festival events across the county and around world than ever before cinema fans of all kinds now demand the option of watching their favorite flicks on their home screens, on their computers or on their hand-held devices.
“Pass holders can expect to be inspired, engaged, entertained, challenged and wowed!” Oberman said. “They can experience everything that the great festivals offer, but on their time schedule, with greater opportunities for engagement, and in the comfort of their own home. ”
Certainly true devotees of the live festival experience will always attend screenings in Telluride, Carbondale, Boulder, London and Alberta. Online film distribution will never put an end to the spirit and excitement that occurs whenever our tribe gathers together to celebrate adventure and our active lifestyles. But the Mountain & Adventure Film Festival aspires to curate a collection of movies that fans can watch at their leisure. By making these film more accessible throughout the year the MAFF hopes to raise the profile of filmmakers whose incredible work too often fades into obscurity after the theater house lights fade. With prize money and revenue sharing of the subscription fees artists can also monetize their work to finance the production of more exciting projects into the future.  And with any luck the audience will indeed grow out of the niche occupied by an exceptional few and be propelled into the social mainstream for everyone to enjoy.
