24 Sep Give The Gift Of The Great Outdoors!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful birthday greetings last week! I am so very happy and honored to enjoy the friendship of so many wonderful people across the country and around the world who want to make the outdoors more accessible to everyone. The Joy Trip Project is happy to announce the 2nd recipient of a free National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. Eboni Green of Atlanta, Georgia is excited to share her love of the outdoors with her two young nephews age 7 and 5.
“They are incredibly imaginative and curious and natural explorers. They are BOYS boys and love doing new things that involve action and adventure,” she wrote, “They are also, interestingly, highly contemplative. I’d like to introduce them to the simple joys of nature. I want them to climb and jump and breathe fresh air and run their fingers through fresh spring water. I want them to ask questions that only come through time in nature. More than anything, I want them to experience life outside of the cell phones, tablets, and TVs they’re always plunked in front of.”
I believe that the outdoors must be available to everyone. With this pass Eboni will not only be able to introduce her nephews to national parks, forests and monuments all over the United States, but she can also bring them to nearby natural settings like the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area just a few miles from down Atlanta. The outdoors is all around us.
In the hopes of removing the financial barrier of access to our public land, throughout the month of September the Joy Trip Project is accepting nominations for individuals and families to receive a free National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. This gift valued at $80 is meant to encourage not only people to visit their wilderness areas and national heritage sites but to foster a spirit of common stewardship. Our public lands can only be sustained for future generation to enjoy if they are made accessible to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. If you know someone who would benefit from a year of free entrance fees to more than 2,000 recreation and historic locations across the country drop me a note via email and share their story at firstname.lastname@example.org. Give the gift of the great outdoors!
