All creatures great and small have a friend in Ilizabethe Zelandais. An avid cyclist and runner she’s also the benefactor of homeless animals in need of refuge from the tribulations a cruel and uncertain world. This self-proclaimed “fairy dog mother” extends her love of fury four-legged companions by raising funds and awareness for the good work of the Dane County Humane Society. And over the next two months Liz hopes that you’ll help support her personal pledge drive she calls Sweat 4 Shelter.
There are 350 shinny new bicycles spinning around Madison. Renowned for its bike friendly culture and amenities Wisconsin’s capital city has introduced a new program to allow residents and visitors to share short rides around town on easily accessible two-wheeled transports. Called B-Cycle the initiative aims to provide a carbon-neutral alternative to an overloaded traffic grid. And at a price tag of $2 million local manufacturer Trek Bicycle is picking up the tab charging taxpayers only $1 per year.
Modeled after its program launched last year in Denver, Trek is bringing B-Cycle to Madison in order to demonstrate the viability of bike-sharing as mode of urban public transportation. Trek president John Burke said the new system, which launched in May, is also a way for his family business to give back to the community.

The Mad City cycling season got off to a great start Thursday at the Capital Brewery in Middleton. In true Wisconsin style supporters of early childhood development gathered to kick-off the annual fundraising team event Bike for Boys & Girls Club.
Presented by Trek Bicycle the event hosts riders of all abilities to spin their wheels for a good cause on July 16th. Pledging to peddle distances of 8, 25 or 50 miles participants plan to encourage friends and family to donate much needed cash to benefit kids in need throughout Dane County.
In a sequel to his original movie Take A Seat, adventure filmmaker Dominic Gill will release a new television series for Universal Sports on April 4th. Called Take A Seat: Sharing a ride across America, the project follows a bicycle journey from Los Angeles to New York City. In keeping with the theme of his first trip, Dom's riding a tandem bike and all along the way he s picking up people, random strangers to peddle with him. Before when he road 20,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina he d pick up just about anyone. But this time he ' s only bringing along people with a disability.
